The Chan Family and Food

Our dictionary entries this week represent both the good and the bad points of The Black Camel.

On the one hand, we have the word, "Jap," an offensive slang term referring to persons of Japanese birth or descent. It is certainly a word that has come into considerable disrepute in the 70+ years since The Black Camel came out.

At the other end of the spectrum are Charlie's kids teasing him at table with cries of "Applesauce" and "Baloney" (both meaning nonsense) to Pop "spilling the beans" and telling them about the case!

We certainly have a charming picture of family life to carry through our Labor Day Holiday, don't we!
